What is important for you and provides you results? 

I believe that with conscious living comes conscious eating. What you put in your body is part of your healthy conscious living.  As a parent, cooking food has been one of the important practices that I inculcated along with everything else that was required for me to be high performance parent.

There is power & healing in food. Do not underestimate it! I have done it, so can you. 



(An inability to sleep)

Sleep is important for us, this fact can not be emphasized enough. The term insomnia literally denotes a complete lack of sleep. It is the inability to fall asleep and also remaining asleep. This disease has become common and multiple reason can be attributed to this condition. 

There may be changes in the duration and quality of sleep. Some symptoms are emotional instability, loss of focus or coordination. The most common cause of sleeplessness is mental tension brought about by anxiety, worries, overwork and over excitement. Suppressed feelings of resentment, anger and bitterness may also cause insomnia. Constipation, overeating at night, excessive intake of tea or coffee, smoking and going to bed hungry are among the common causes. Also, worrying about falling asleep is enough to keep one awake. 


  1. Vitamin B1 is of special significance in the treatment of insomnia. Thiamine or vitamin B1 is of special significance in the treatment of insomnia. It is vital for strong, healthy nerves. A body starved of thiamine over a long period will be unable to relax and fall asleep naturally. Valuable sources of this vitamin are wholegrain cereals, pulses, and nuts. 
  2. Lettuce: Lettuce is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia as it contains a sleep inducing substance, called ‘lectocarium.’ The juice of this plan has been likened in effect to the sedative action of opium without the accompanying excitement. Lettuce sees taken in a decoction are also useful in insomnia. One tablespoon of seeds should be boiled in half a liter of water, till it is reduced by one-third. 
  3. Milk: Milk is very valuable in insomnia. A glass of milk, sweetened with honey, should be taken every night before going to bed in treating this consdition. It acts as a tonic and a tranquilizer. Massaging the milk over the soles of the feet has also been found effective. 
  4. Honey: Honey is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia. It has a hypnotic action and induces a sound sleep. It should be taken with water, before going to bed, in dress of two teaspoons in a large cup of water. Babies generally fall asleep after taking honey.

 Aaloo Chana Chaat - (Chick pea and Potato salad)


  1. Potatoes boiled and cubed 2 medium red or white potatoes 
  2. Chickpeas (chanay) boiled 2 cups or Gorbanzo can 1 
  3. Green chilies finely chopped 1 to 2 - according to your taste
  4. Tomatoes one medium or two roma or small chopped about 1/2 a cup
  5. White onion chopped 1/4 cup (can add green onions with greens too)  
  6. Coriander leaves chopped 1/2 cup 
  7. Red chili powder 1/4 tsp 
  8. Salt 1 tsp or to your taste
  9. Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  10. 10.Lemon juice 2 tbsp or tamarind juice or syrup 1/4 cup


In a large bowl mix together potatoes, chickpeas, green chilies, coriander leaves, tomatoes, white onions, lemon juice or tamarind juice, salt, red chili powder, and cumin powder. Garnish with coriander leaves and thinly sliced onion. Can serve cold or at a room temperature.
