What is Interfaith? Coming soon
Over a period of 15 years of my learning and teaching in various disciplines, I have found that there is a need in the US for many people to know, learn and understand about the Qur'an, Islam, and Muslims. Because I am doing it too! Although, I was born in a Muslim household.
So my hope is that all my friends from various faiths and traditions and followers of the podcast lightupwithShua will learn about the faith that I really have explored and still exploring myself.
I believe that just because we are born into a faith doesn't mean that we are knowledgeable about it.
And my suggestion is that to explore and learn about your respective faith and then follow it or in some cases, there will be some of you who will discard it. And in Islam that is fine, because there is no compulsion.
My intention and goal is to introduce you at my micro level the message of the Qur’an that has made a difference in my life. It is my guide, my code that I am trying to understand and follow. You can try it too!
Some ideas and topics that I might cover in my podcast are:
What is the Qur'an?
What is Islam?
Who is a Muslim?
And to address your questions with the help of Islamic and other faith scholars who are my virtual and in some cases in-person teachers.
Hope you will benefit from this content and my workshops that I offer.
What is Jihad? (A new podcast series)
According to the Qur'an
Allah: Arabic/Quranic reference to the One God Who is the Lord God, the Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe and everything that is in it. Allah is not an exclusive name for a tribal deity of Muslims as some Christians, Jews and other non-Muslims erroneously believe. It is wrong to consider Allah as a name for God as God has no name, only Attributes.
Deen: Or Din: A term with no exact English equivalent, a "Way of Life,' and in the Islamic context, a social, political system based on Quranic Vlaues. Deen is generally translated incorrectly in English as religion.
Eiman: According to the Holy Quran, the conviction that results from full mental acceptance and intellectual satisfaction. This kind of conviction gives one a feeling of AMN - peace, inner contentment. In addition, a Momin is one who accepts the truth and acts in such a way that it ensures his own peace and helps him to safeguard the security of the rest of mankind. AMN, EIMAN and MOMIN have common root.
Momin: One who accepts the truth in such a way that it ensures his own peace and helps to safeguard the peace and security of the rest of mankind. ALMO'MIN is one of the Atributes of Allah Himself.

The Quran contains permanent values as revealed by Allah. Anyone can seek guidance from it.

PTT or Path To Totality, Decode life.
In this program, I will talk about the Quran, the words of the Quran from its Lexicon. The segments will discuss the books on Islam, Muslims, and their cultures. The information will also come from the scholars who have invested their lives in the research and understanding of the Quran and the tradition. We will learn to apply it to our daily life. For example what is ordained in the Quran about fasting?
The purpose of this life is not to be stressed and live with fear but to be fulfilled and live joyfully. Service to others is one of the biggest lessons that I have learned from the Islamic faith.
As a student of the Quran, I have received the feedback from diverse group of people who would like to learn the basics of the Quran and Islam. Moreover, living in the United States, there is a need of the people, especially in the current times, who are from multiple faiths and cultures that want to learn about Islam, Muslims, women in Islam, Hijab, Jihad, Halal vs. Kosher, and all the other related topics. I have been speaking about Islam and Muslim culture in general and conducting events in various communities around in the area of Greater Boston, Massachusetts since more than 7 years. In my experience, people are yearning to learn and am I too.
I don’t claim to be an Islamic scholar or Alima (female Islamic scholar) at this point, however, I have been in the process of learning the tradition from numerous well renowned Islamic scholars from various regions whose message I may forward with my understanding.
The goal is to reach through all the wisdom, teachings, scriptures and paths that have come across in my lifetime which direct me to the ultimate PATH TO TOTALITY. That is what I want to discuss and explore. I respect all the previous scriptures that were revealed before the Quran but do not follow them the way I do follow the Quran. However, anything that coincides with the wisdom of the Quran and the tradition helps me to respect the former scriptures. I am in the process of learning and understanding the Quran and do not deem capable enough at this point to claim that I have understood the full Quran. It is a rich book that I interact and look to connect in my daily life. With time the Quran is encouraging me to ruminate and utilize it as a guide and a manual to live as best as I can with my limitations. However, my understanding is evolving and growing. So, I welcome students like me to join in conversations and interact in order to expand our mindsets and improve our lives.
It is the story of Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt, and their meeting on a bloody battlefield during the period of Christian-Muslim conflict known as the Crusades. This is big history, important history.
Not only does it speak directly to the conflicts of today, the story itself is very dramatic with many fascinating twists and turns, and with central characters who are more compelling than even their legends claim.
On one hand there is Francis, a starry-eyed would-be knight in provincial Assisi, captured as a prisoner of war and imprisoned for a year, then released as an abused victim of violence, whose one solution to witnessing so much hatred was a radical reorganization of his life and values.
And there is a forgotten Muslim prince, the young nephew of the brilliant Saladin, Richard the Lionheart’s famous opponent, who was raised in the Sultan’s palace and groomed for the throne by his mother steeped in Islamic learning. Two more unlikely protagonists are hard to imagine. And yet the meeting between these two men, at a crossroads moment, changed history.
Narrated by Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, the film features interviews with renowned scholars, historians, and religious leaders.
